Jack Nicklaus to design Signature Golf Course as centerpiece of a new private community in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – Centaur US Holdings announced that it is partnering with Nicklaus Design to create a contemporary private golf enclave called “Panther National” within the master-planned community of Avenir, highlighted by a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.
Nicklaus Design, the firm founded by Jack Nicklaus over 50 years ago and based in Palm Beach Gardens, will create the centerpiece amenity of Panther National—an 18-hole championship Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, complemented by a 9-hole Par-3 short course and a state-of-the-art training and practice facility.  The extensive scale of the course (210 acres), combined with its location adjoining 2,400 acres of secluded preserve and its dramatic elevation changes, will provide a unique golf experience unmatched in the South Florida region.

That's weird -- I thought Jack had announced he was retiring from golf course design [though Nicklaus Design would carry on] ?

No response from Nicklaus Design but since JN lives nearby, I'm sure he'll be involved.  On TV he said that world travel to courses in Saudi Arabia, etc, under construction presents a problem for him and he can't even visit a new course in Toronto since Americans are not  allowed there now.

Adjacent is the Sandhill Crane golf club, designed by Dusenberry Design. Will that be a part of it, or will they now have two courses within 10 feet of each other?

Highly doubtful. It's a county owned course.

Looks like Justin Thomas will be involved with Nicklaus.

Will be interesting to see the “modern perspective“ he brings to golf course architecture.

Wow Justin Thomas is getting into GCA? I had never seen that before. Good for him at such a young age. I guess we have a potential guy to keep on eye on in the future.
