Interesting people like things. Boring people hate things.
I’ll definitely file this away for future reference. Freudian?

It’s either Freud or one of the Kardashians.

Probably not Freudian per se.

Barny has quite the facility for conjuring up pithy, visceral koans - whether he can explain them or not is another matter.

Safe to say neither one of us are altogether all together.

I've been gone for so long, no clue who John Cullum is, but if you're listening out there, I'm happy to host a severe ass-whooping on the Lake Curse ;-) if you are ever dumb enough to endure what is left of San Francisco.

The quote could be attributed to Marie Antoinette.

Most likely Oscar Wilde

First mention of Johnny Thunders on GCA!! Gotta love it!
Can Paul Westerberg be far behind?
Thanks Gib! Totally 100% disagree with yer "politics" but that's what makes music (and GCA) so great. Finding common ground.

Jeff,

Many years ago, we had a lunatic in the Treehouse whose moniker was "Johnny Thunders."  He was sort of a cross between Barny's pinball pith and my discursive snark. I'm not sure he ever contributed much to the discussion of golf architecture, but his rock-throwing provocations were quite entertaining.

Don't know whether Ran pushed him out the Treehouse window or he jumped on his own, but like the real Johnny Thunders, one day - without reason or explanation - he was suddenly gone.

BTW, I decided to shut off my social media account before the fistwaving hoi polloi put a bounty on my head. Evidently, I'm so offensive, Facebook had to establish a refugee safe-space for people exposed to my toxicity.

Barny,

I guess it depends on how deep - and with what - you are trying to bore a homo.

Gib,

It’s the homophobes that are boring. My gay friends count amongst the most interesting people I know.

Now that I have learned that Oscar Wilde was quite the racist it will be interesting to watch how his role in history evolves.

Said the privileged white guy who belongs to four clubs and lives in the most conservative place this side of Oklahoma.

I've got a handful of gay friends and colleagues on our regular film crew, but none of them are in danger of roller-skating naked in the Pride Parade.

And if you are determined to tear down the statue of Oscar Wilde, you'll have to fly to Dublin - though you might have a hard time getting the paintball gun through customs.
