Don't want to limit the list to just par 3 courses as there maybe some that slip in some par 4's perhaps.
Does anyone know of any short/par 3 courses under construction or planned other than the one at Forest Dunes?

Bill Coore's 12 or 13 hole short course Barnbougle is currently growing in. It's mostly par 3s with one or two short 4s.
It's great land so expect something really fun.

Thanks Mike I didn't realize they were building one there and was just there last year. One thing that it appears will be good is that it is close to the Lost Farm course and not a 3rd location.  One thing I was disappointed with at Barnbougle (probably the only actually) is that the transport between courses wasn't very efficient and took quite a bit of time and was limited in the number of people as well.  So by having this so close it cuts down on having to travel to a third location.

BTW was this all Bill Coore as I know Ben doesn't travel much internationally anymore?

I believe the par-3 course at Castle Stuart was going to open for play this summer. Between Mark Parsinen's passing and the Covid crisis, I don't know if or when that will happen.

Cabot's "the nest" was on track for July 2020. Not sure if timing has changed. 10 hole par-3 course.

I believe Ballyliffin have just opened a 9-hole short course. Good. The more the better.

The Nest is still on track for a late July opening. Keith Rhebb and Riley John's short course at Forest Dunes will also likely open later this summer as well.

David McKay Kidd has started to build a short course at Gamble Sands, to be called Quicksand.

According to the above there will be 11-14 greens and holes (not cups) can be changed daily. Opening in 2021.

When I took up golf at 16 in 1976 there were many par 3 and executive courses in Sacramento county and that gave rise to many junior golfers. Now many of those are NLE due to real estate values. Hopefully the reemergence of short courses will give rise to more junior golfers. I hope even the private short courses will welcome junior golfers who are not members. :D

The Heritage Course at Adlington in Cheshire was due to open in March but Covid put a stop to it. It is a replacement course for one being lost to a new road development.

It might well now be open for play.

I have a 14 holes lighted par three in construction in Paraguay. When finished it will serve as a training facility for the Olympic team and also be opened to the public! All shaped, irrigation being installed and should start planting in August or September!

Jeff,

Lost Farm and the par 3 are all Bill. As far as I know, Ben hasn't been here since the 1988 World Cup and BiCentennial at Royal Melbourne.

Hey Jeff,
Public and/or Private?
Winchester CC (MA) finished a short course called Wee Course.
It either just opened, or is opening post COVID.

I was up at cabot last week and the guys indicated the crew needs to finish the bunkers/other details are still stuck in Ontario due to covid travel restrictions  :( ... sounds like it will be pushed back...

Are there restrictions on travel between provinces in Canada?  I hadn't heard that.

The Atlantic Provinces have had a 2 week quarantine if you are required to travel between provinces (Tough to fly the crew out only and then pay them to sit around for 14 days in isolation...). Starting July 3 there will be an "Atlantic Bubble" so travel between the 4 provinces on the East Coast can happen without a quarantine period upon arrival, but for now it sounds like visitors from the rest of the country will still be subject to the 14 day quarantine.

As for the rest of Canada, there was no consistent plan. Ontario and QC have been much looser, while the west was a bit tighter at least at the beginning. All are still strongly discouraging non-essential travel. Things have calmed down considerably in the last month or so here, so summer should be a bit more "normal". Huge hit on an already short golf season in this part of the world! With a weak CAD visits to the Great White North should have been trending up...

Tom,

When Covid19 reached Canada, restrictions on inter-provincial travel were imposed - mandatory 14 day quarantine upon arrival.  Those restrictions are just starting to be relaxed, with the four western provinces allowing inter-provincial travel within that region on June 21, and the four Atlantic provinces doing the same on July 3.  With 90% of all cases being in Ontario and Quebec, they remain subject to the 14 day quarantine for inter-provincial travel.

Joel,

Other than starting the golf season late (May 3), golf has been booming here in Manitoba - especially amongst juniors.  Golf opened 6 weeks before any other sports, and with lots of younger adults and students out of work and out of school, they have been playing lots of golf (thanks in part to generous government relief).  Our tee sheet is running close to full capacity which is rare for a private club.

Good to hear, Tyler! We were a bit later opening in NS but have seen similar numbers which has is great. Public/Private have been busier than usual as you mentioned. Unfortunately, places like PEI and Cape Breton who depend on out of province tourism will have a hard season.

I guess i'll have to "do my part" and spend more time around Cabot and Highlands.
