OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2021
« on: March 20, 2020, 12:33:25 PM »
Assuming the 149th championship gets called off, do you think they will play it next year at RSG and move all the years back or skip it until 2024 or 2025.

2020 RSG
2021 St Andrews
2022 Hoylake
2023 Troon
2024 Portrush I think.
A combination of whats good for golf and good for turf.
The Players Club, Cumberwell Park, The Kendleshire, Oake Manor, Dainton Park, Forest Hills, Erlestoke, St Cleres.

Adrian 150 is at St Andrews if it stayed in St Andrews next year it would be edition 149. For the sake of east Kent we certainly hope it’s moved back a year. Set up work for July was still going on yesterday.

An historical aside.
Harry Vardon won The Open in 1914. The next time it was held was 1920 when George Duncan was the winner. When Dick Burton won The Open in 1939 he held onto the Claret Jug until 1946 when Sam Snead journeyed across the Atlantic and was victorious. The only other year The Open wasn’t played was 1871 (although ‘70 and ‘72 were both won by Young Tom Morris).
There must be a strong possibility that Shane Lowery will now hold onto it for at least two years irrespective of where it’s next held.
