Suggestions From The Archive For Coronavirus Distraction
« on: March 15, 2020, 08:41:41 PM »
I'm sure a lot of people are like me and looking for distractions from the coronavirus news. I thought people here might have suggestions for fun old GCA threads to peruse. Sort of a "best of." Any and all suggestions welcome.

I have read several comments the last few days that reminded me why I hate golfers. Thi following thread is from simpler times. I didn't read it all so I may regret this but my last post holds up pretty well.

Just discovered the thread "Seth Raynor Restoring" and loved the following quote from Forrest Richardson:

Golf — the very spirit of the game and its playing board — is at odds with the notion of restoration. This game is not supposed to stay the same. The men and women who create the fields of golf should be continually tinkering — yes, occasionally injecting, fixing, disturbing, testing, ruining, fiddling, bettering, improving, screwing up, and transforming what was to what is.

So many good gems. I remember reading that thread during my self-imposed post-Streamsong exile. Do I dare bump it?

Thank you for changing the font of your posts. It makes them easier to scroll past.

Peter,

John Kirk's thread "The Time between Shot and Result is the Key" is a wonderful thread. John "...in trying to develop (his) own little unified theory..." was surely channeling his dear old dad who was an administrator, I believe, in nuclear research where the holy grail was to try and develop their own Grand Unified Theory!!
My personal,special one is
Confounding Choices: The essence of Golf Course Architecture initiated by Dan Kelly.
