The Golf Club 2019 (Video Game)
« on: February 09, 2020, 01:13:42 PM »
Curious if anyone on here has designed any courses on The Golf Club 2019 for XBox.  Would be interested to see virtual designs from other archi buffs.

My xbox live user name is DrPeterV if anyone ever wants to tee it up.  :-)

The Lido build that's been posted here on GCA is a Golf Club course, IIRC.

I heard from a friend who bought the lifetime license for use with his SkyTrak that the "Magnolia National" Augusta-like courses are no longer available.  :(

I've done five or six. It's been awhile since I've played them because I only have a Mac these days and it won't work, so I haven't been doing much of it lately unfortunately. I have some more that are maybe 60-80 percent complete including a Cherry Hills from lidar.

I love it but I don't think my work looks quite as polished as many of the other designers do. But I suspect my courses are probably a bit easier and (hopefully) more fun.

I'm actually a lot more prolific with Perfect Golf and Course Forge, having done about 20 for them (including one that's in the Trackman package) and am generally a bit better with the software, although (again) I haven't done anything for a little while and there are some guys beginning to do things with 3D grass that just makes my stuff look amateurish.

It's really the only way I ever get to fulfill this outlet... I was too much of a college flunky and too intimidated by construction equipment to ever try doing it for real, even though it was a childhood goal for a long time.

I don't have enough skill to design my own, but if search the term 'lidar' when looking for courses, you will find a massive range of real courses that have used lidar data to increase realism.

You can also find a pretty good list of real courses here: https://www.tgctours.com/Course/TGC2019Listings?Grid-sort=Likes-desc&Grid-page=1&Grid-pageSize=50&Grid-group=&Grid-filter=IsLidar~eq~true~and~Status~neq~%27Not%20Approved%27
