Ron,

It used to be an 18 hole course called "Valley" to complement the current 18 hole Ross course called "Hill." They built a casino and practice dome, and converted it into a nine hole course. It's pretty basic, but the Ross course is as good as it gets in Indiana. The Bendelow  course is right next to resort while the Ross course is 5 minutes up the hill on 56. French Lick is cool.

The Valley course is where children would go to shoot the best round of their life.

I may have misread your question Ron. The Bendelow course is essentially geared to beginners. It has some decent greens.

I never played the actual 18 hole course John, but I remember seeing it many times and feeling it was really flat and easy. Feel like I could have shot something decent there as you say.

When we used to visit French Lick as a kid, the original Valley course is definitely where my parents would take my brothers and I to play before we were old/good enough for the Hill (Ross) course.  There are surely some corridors still open from the original course, but I don’t think there is any Bendelow left out there.

I haven’t played the remodeled Valley course since it opened, mostly because I’d prefer to play the Ross course, but also because it isn’t always an option. That part of the resort is subject to very bad flooding. I was there last June and the entire driving range as well as about half the course was underwater.

...to admit my mistakes most frankly, or to say simply what I believe to be necessary for the defense of what I have written, without introducing the explanation of any new matter so as to avoid engaging myself in endless discussion from one topic to another.
