The Floridian

Had the chance the play the Floridian a couple of times this weekend. Several of the holes seemed repetitive and hard to differentiate between but the experience is top notch.

The 17th hole has stuck with me the most, it is a really cool short par 4 that plays directly towards the water (the most scenic tee shot on the course). Played 280-300 yards. If you went for the green, bunkers on the right side came into play as well as the river to the left of the green. If you chose to layup, a mid iron to the left side of the fairway left a direct wedge into the green.

The par 3 course also stood out. Tightly mowed areas around the green punish you for missing greens and usually fed into stacked sod bunkers. Very fun way to end a day.

Thanks for the photo tour. Playing there in January. Looking forward to seeing it...and hopefully some warm weather!

I played there in 1996 with one of the archys from Gary Player Design. He told me that Mrs. Huizenga had a hand in

designing some of the holes.
