San Geronimo Fundraiser & Auction
« on: October 25, 2019, 06:26:49 PM »
There has been a bit of discussion in recent years about San Geronimo Golf Course in Marin County, north of San Francisco.  San Geronimo was the last golf course designed by Arthur Vernon Macan, opening in 1965 shortly after he died.

During the past two years San Geronimo has been the target of a small handful of politicians and environmental activists who have sought to permanently close the golf course in order to convert it to open space.  A grassroots group of local residents have worked tirelessly to save the golf course from permanently closing and have collected enough signatures to get a ballot initiative to qualify for a March 3, 2020 ballot measure, which will be voted on by Marin County residents.

For anyone in the Bay Area that might be interested, the inaugural Save San Geronimo fundraiser will be held Saturday, November 2nd at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael.  The event includes dinner, open bar, live auction, and live music by a prominent local band also called "San Geronimo."

For more information and tickets visit: www.SaveSanGeronimo.com

For anyone that doesn’t live in the Bay Area you can still bid on the auction items here: www.SaveSanGeronimo.com/auction

We are fortunate to have some great golf opportunities that anyone can bid on, including generous donations by Mike Keiser for a foursome at Sheep Ranch next year when it opens, Michael Keiser, Jr. for a foursome at all three Sand Valley courses, Meadow Club for a threesome of golf, Lake Merced for a foursome of golf, and Edgewood Tahoe for a twosome of golf and stay at the resort.

It would be great to catch up with some fellow Bay Area GCAers.  Shoot me a note if you can attend.  Your support is very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Josh

I have just received word that the Save San Geronimo fundraiser scheduled for November 2 in San Rafael has been postponed due to the wild fires state of emergency in California. No date has been set yet for when it will be held.

Josh, thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

This is a wonderful public golf course in an area that needs public access golf.  If you are near, you should try to attend or check out the course.
