PESTS GS: BUDA CUP XVIII (2020) @ KINGTON & WELSHPOOL
« on: September 23, 2019, 06:37:35 PM »
The powers that be have digitally discoursed and come upon the following.

Pests and friends are welcome to play for the Buda Cup on 18-20 September 2020.

Friday, 18.09.20: Play 36 @ http://www.welshpoolgolfclub.co.uk/ (God help the 36ers!).  Bacon baps before three tee slots starting at 10:00am.  There is the possibility of using a three tee start (1, 4 & 7) so all golfers can finish the AM round about the same time.  Light lunch then PM game when folks are ready.

http://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,63739.msg1518730.html#msg1518730

Saturday, 19.09.20: Play 36 @ https://www.kingtongolf.co.uk/.  Three tee times starting at 9:30 & 2:00 with light lunch between rounds.

Sunday, 20.09.20: Play 18 @  https://www.kingtongolf.co.uk/.  Four tee times) starting at 9:00 with light lunch after round.

https://www.kingtongolf.co.uk/course/course-flyover/

Dinner on Saturday is booked at the Burton for 8:30pm...two tables six each.

I can no longer offer deposit refunds. A £250 deposit has been paid.  The total cost for golf, light lunches and Welshpool breakfast bap is £122.00, payable up front.  When payment is received you are in!  All will pay the same amount.  It is therefore assumed all participants are in for all the golf unless stated otherwise.  To state otherwise means to give Captains plenty of time for decision-making.  For instance, I am stating right now that I am in for only 18 holes a day.  I would like to play the Saturday AM round.  As of yet I am undecided about the Friday round.

You can transfer funds directly to me.  Contact me for details.

Finally, I started a Pests WhatsApp group. If folks are interested in staying in touch, get the app and let me know.

This post will be updated as and when.

PAID PESTS Unless indicated otherwise, golfers are in for all 5 rounds.

I sent money to Tony and booked Friday and Saturday at Burton. Told Jack Weiner to do the same and he has done it.

Excellent choice of venue and list of other courses nearby too.

Keen to be involved, as is long hitting son, but given proximity and the number of others likely to be involved would be okay with just 1 Kington round during the 3-day period (ie thus giving long distance visitors greater opportunity to play more) and not staying locally. Happy to play other nearby-ish venues before/after.

As to the walkability of the courses, if in doubt book a buggy. Kington isn’t too bad but Welshpool and Church Stretton have some long steep climbs.

Jayne has been hearing all about BUDA and would love to be part of it too. I've booked us into the Burton for 4 nights - including her birthday on the 21st!

Sean, text me your bank details and I'll pay £244 today.

Thanks for organizing this, Sean. I can enthusiastically recommend Kington and looking forward to seeing it again. Also glad to see Welshpool included. The cost is hard to believe given the quality of courses, and I've sent a deposit to Tony.

I will probably try to get to Church Stretton the Thursday before Welshpool, and then Llandrindod Wells on Sunday afternoon. Not sure what else - depends on if I'm flying to London or Manchester.

Anyone on the fence should just take a look at Sean's tours and the Kington website tour. For example:

Are reservation refunds available? Am hopeful that the doctors at Duke can get my neck back in playing shape by next years BUDA but don't need to contribute another 100 plus pounds to provides pints around when I am not there to partake ;D

Jay,
I'm sure you realize that the purpose of the deposit is to ensure you have a place in the field. If the field fills up, then those with deposits are keeping additional people from signing up. If someone who paid a deposit has to back out, there may be enough time to recruit another to take his place, but I don't think that should be the responsibility of the organizers.

Buda organizers are just trying to accommodate the most people possible and meet the commitments made to clubs (especially with weekend slots).

Hopefully you can sort out your neck issue.

Sean, I am in and have attempted my first Paypal transfer with dubious results.  I suspect it failed and perhaps Spangles can confirm.  I have been known to screw up a one car funeral.

Thanks for organizing.

Fantastic to get such early notice.

Looking forward to a return to Kington and checking off some new ones to me.

Too early to know how long my trip will be but I'd also be interested of a return to Aberdovey and then head north Harlech/Bulls Bay/Conwyn etc

Thanks Sean

Money sent.
