I was on my way to the Field Club and my passenger kept refreshing the leaderboard. It looked like, once Salas held on to get to 13 1/2, that the U.S. would at least retain the Cup, but then the two players lost the next three holes they played to lose 1 down and 2&1, and so that's all she wrote. I found out about Suzann's retirement later that night.
The teams were never, at the completion of any matches, separated by more than a point. What a closely contested tournament.
If only both sides had made more of the short putts, it could have been closely contested AND some great golf.
