Should GCA have a "In Memorium" section?
« on: August 01, 2019, 10:51:40 PM »
So many people have particpated in this website as well as many with featured interviews that have passed away.

Would it be appropriate to somehow memorialize these people and would anyone read it?

It would certainly be better than a memorial tree, golf architecturally speaking.   In the contributions sections Tiger, Ace and Sir Boab and George are in bold.

In addition to some of the GCA heavyweights who have passed away, would be nice to note some of the less prolific posters who are no longer with us. Ted Cahill was not a big contributor although he had some thoughtful posts out here. He was a nice guy who really loved the game. Still hard to believe cancer got him so quickly and at only age 43.

I would support this idea.

We need to be able to acknowledge the contribution people have made to this site, its members or both.

Ted Cahill loved Bandon:

Yes I got to know him when I was living in the Bay Area. Ted was notorious for sniffing out last minute deals at Bandon. He would spontaneously disappear for a 2 or 3 day bender.

We should also have a special section for all the people who have left in protest!

This is the exact reason why people leave, stupid comments that are off subject.

James, this was a poor choice of thread for that kind of comment.

Maybe you’re just unaware of the close friendships involved with some of those we have lost. In any case, it wasn’t the time or place for it.

As Jeff said "Over my dead body .......".

I, personally, think the idea is a bit macabre.
