Sunningdale Old Question
« on: April 21, 2003, 11:36:24 AM »
For those who have played Sunningdale Old recently, are the 4th green contours like this now (I can't recall).  (It's Colt's new green, he shifted Park's green)

Paul, Somewhere around here I have a centinerary celebration program of Sunningdale that was given to me by David Kelly. Let me find it and see if there is anything in it.

I havn't been there for a since 1996 but it was always very severe from behind the hole there.
I suspect the tiers are not so pronounced now but it doesn't seem too different to me.
Don't you think the course looks better without all the trees?

Mike

Yes I do prefer the more open heath look.  But I suspect that the members like the seclusion of the Old as a contrast to some of the open holes on the New (6th in particular).  I believe the club has chopped a lot down on the New in particular recently.

Paul,

I definately do not remember those contours, but I do remember a steep green. I looked through my photos and I have nothing of the green. Sorry.

Paul,

There are definitely not the appearant flowing ridges features in the picture, but the pitch of the green to the front is still knee-knocking, esp as Mike said at the back.

Where's the knob in front of the 5th green?  Notice also the earthen foot bridge across the little pond too.  Now its RR ties.
