I really hope they add a pond with a fountain!
« on: May 02, 2019, 10:53:09 PM »

Background:
Local 18 hole par 3 course owned by the city is likely going to get a complete reno and reduction down to 9-12 holes so that the parks dept can use the remaining land for other purposes. Current course has small greens, lots of drainage issues and play is mostly by seniors and beginners.

Today: Talked to the PGA pro at the course and asked for an update. Told him I'd been studying Winter Park, Goat Hill, Rockwind, Sweetens and am excited to see what the city has in store and how I can help advise. He says that Dan Hixon has been consulting on a routing (ok...so far sooo good). I express how neat walking trails and other community uses would be integrated into the design. His reply....."I hope they build some more mounded greens with deep bunkers as well as a pond or two with some nice fountains, that would really make the place look nice."

WHAT THE #$%!  Those are the last things a course like this needs.....

A lot of people really love the fountains. Most people like ponds or lake. An island green can make the difference of a club being in profit or going bust, that is how important it could be to a new course on more average land.
A combination of whats good for golf and good for turf.
