"I don't like the rough"

Says Jack.

“If they took the silly rough out the course would be tougher. The ball would run into the trees! Wake up, guys. Wake up.”

"Let's slow the damned greens down a bit, not take the character out of them." Tom Doak
"Take their focus off the grass and put it squarely on interesting golf." Don Mahaffey

100%.  The rough should be eliminated and / or shortened, and 90% of the trees added in the past decade should go!

Nicklaus had never eaten a Moon Pie before?

"Nicklaus is hopeful that Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley, a former U.S. Amateur champ and reputed course architecture wonk, will take the course back to its origins."

Is this true? I've never read anything regarding Fred Ridley as a GCA wonk. In fact, another article I read had him praising the tree planting done by Hootie Johnson in the 90s.

I agree with Jack on this one!  The rough makes the golf course easier especially when the greens are receptive.

I am beginning to wonder what, if anything, Jack likes about the modern game.

Constantly blamed by 8-handicaps for their 7 missed 12-footers each round.
