But first they have to move the range and put in some back tees. ;)

I actually think switching the range and 10th hole could net an improvement for both. The range (short as it is) currently occupies much more interesting land than the 10th anyway.

Not sure where the new back tees are going  :)

What happened to the new public Corica South " Australian Sandbelt style course" designed by Rees Jones.

The PGA tour made several visits to Alameda and deemed the conditions not ready?  I had lunch with Steph a few weeks ago and both of us were very surprised.   The Bermuda fairways have suffered since the opening and the beautiful fescue surrounds have all been trampled down by an ignorant public. It really was viable since they have the other course which could have been used for parking and corporate tents.

Lake Merced was about the only option. Harding Park was unavailable because of the PGA and Presidents Cup. Olympic and Cal Club said no. Metropolitan is in terrible shape and would need a lot of work and TPC Stonebrae wasn't really considered.

Who is the consulting architect at Lake Merced? Is it still Rees Jones?

Per the article, Rees Jones will do the GCA work.

It will be 7,300 yards and presumably a par 70; I don't think there's any chance 6 or 14 would be labeled as a 500-yard par 5. It could be really, really hard if they want it to be. And yes, Rees Jones' name is on the plans.

The PGA Tour event at Lake Merced, planned for September of this year, has been cancelled:

I'm deleting my original post. I talked with someone very close to the situation today and the main reason the tournament has been pushed back was because WorkDay pulled out as the main corporate sponsor. Curry didn't have enough time to find another sponsor and the PGA was able to fill the spot with another sponsor and location which will be announced shortly.

Curry is back to square one, and hopes to find another sponsor, date and location witghin the next two years.

I'm unsure if Lake Merced will make the changes discussed since Curry is not paying the bill.
