Spines versus Splines at Ridgewood...Paging Dean Paolucci
« on: August 24, 2018, 04:36:15 PM »
I keep hearing them discuss spines at Ridgewood this week, at the Northern Trust, and I suspect that they are referencing splines. Dean Paolucci, my mentor, am I correct?

In what context?

Since the picture below is the most common version of splines, I suspect they do me spine.

Search "splines" in the GCA search bar. You'll get what I'm after.

Every single one of those is a misuse of the word spline.

They probably should have used ridge, but at least one online dictionary includes that definition for spine.

The Cambridge has this example of usage, " The Apennine mountains form the spine of Italy."

I can't find a similar citation for spline.
