UK Knock-Out 2018
« on: January 13, 2018, 10:08:26 AM »
Whilst I'm conscious that I haven't yet given Tony the prize for winning the 2017 version, I have been inundated (well, I've had an e-mail) enquiring as to whether there'll be a 2018 version and expressing enthusiasm for one.  So, so long as people (The Yank) are happy to go with my interpretation of the geography of the UK, I'm happy to organise again, if there's the appetite.  So, who's up for it?
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Well done Mark, I'm in. As for the Yank, would it not make sense to put him in the region where he has club membership ie. Scotland ?  ;D

Oh, go on then.
Given, in my case, it’ll only be ONE GAME, I might as well join in!

Sadly, I cannot compete this year, with July now my anticipated and long awaited (by one person) return to golf. It’s not unknown for top athletes to need rotator cuff surgery and then there’s a case like mine.  Still in a sling, but so far its all good.
I really enjoyed last year and with one bye, I played against two new guys and two old friends. GCA heaven and I’m pleased to see it’s return.  Hopefully I can join in and walk a match or two.
The lesson is, beware the injured golfer. Play well.
Let's make GCA grate again!

Mark - I'll be happy to maintain the bracket again this year, if you are interested.

Yes, please, Mike.  The bracket was very helpful last year in keeping track of things.  Very kind of you to offer.

And can I suggest a wee doff of the cap to Sir Boab in the competition naming this year? ‘The Huntley What a Pity Trophy’ has a certain ring...
