I find it funny that Matty G. can choose three of my former interns for a list of five, but of course he doesn't need to talk to me about them. But it would have been tough for me to choose one above another. There's a lot of talent out there, but the opportunities are so hit and miss that they are not always reflective of who SHOULD get them.
Of course his list is U.S.-centric; I believe there are more young architects in Europe who have actually designed a course or two on their own, if that's a factor in the evaluation.
P.S. to Jay M: I agree about Kyle, but he is far from alone in having seen a lot of courses and remembering them in great detail. You only know one guy; I'd say I know six or eight who have the same ability, and if they haven't seen quite as much it's only because they are younger. But I could have told you that about Kyle 10-15 years ago, and you wouldn't have believed me back then.
