"Golf Day" at Wolf Point Oct 29th
« on: September 26, 2017, 10:29:53 AM »

EDIT #2: I've sent a basecamp invite to every one I've heard from; I need you to log in and join in the conversation

EDIT: please email me at donmahaff@gmail.com with email address, hometown, home club, & handicap...we are going to try and get an email blast out tomorrow with information. Pls help me spread the word.  I'll be c & p this message to each PM I've received. Thx, Don

We get a fair number of requests for play, but since Al died, we don't have "regular" play, and we don't always have the course ready to go.  So, in an effort to have some fun and keep the course...well keep it a golf course where golfers are actually playing golf once in awhile...we've decided to have an open golf day, Oct 29th.

If you are interested in playing on that day please send me a PM.  Haven't really thought about numbers, will wait and see response before we worry too much about that. Thx, Don

Wow, this is great Don. I'm unlikely to make it to this event, and I've already been fortunate enough to play there thanks to generosity from you and Mr. Stanger, but hopefully others will take advantage of this invitation. Just a completely unique experience in every way.

Well, the message has been up here, and on Tommy's site, for about 3 hours and I already have about 15 people who want to play. From all over the country. THAT, gets me pumped to get her ready. I'll give it a couple of days and then probably start shutting it down. Be patient if you sent a PM or email, I'll respond with more details in blast form next week some time.  thx, Don

Don,

I just met you the one time at Dixie Cup, but this post needs to be acknowledged. That is a very cool offer.

Family considerations prevent me from attending, but again, thanks for the generosity of you and the family.

Don,

Thanks for the very generous offer to share a very special place.

I was fortunate to come last year and met the greatest bunch of guys and a couple even turned into new golfing buddies!

To those who have not experience WP, make a point to make it down to Texas.  You will not be disappointed.

I agree wholeheartedly with David. I had the privilege of playing with he and his friend and they made a wonderful day of golf even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend anyone who can make it to Wolf Point to do so. You will not regret it!

Updating everyone - my goal is to respond to all questions and provide more info by Wed this week. So far, if you asked to come, you're in.  Going forward, we will start a wait list, but high probability you'll get in....not like we have members or other groups, but we do have limited facilities.   I'll be in touch.., and BTW it is a Halloween themed event and best costume wins a dozen Pro V1 with Wolf Point logo.

This is such a tremendous offer.  Wolf Point is one of the best modern courses in the US (easily in my top 10).  The timing doesn't work for me due to other commitments, but a day there is well worth any trouble to get there.  If you're on the fence and there's still room, GO!

Thanks for this, Don.

I will be driving there, may bring some pinot. I will not dress up like the Donald and drive onto the greens.

Huckaby would love hearing this, but Sunday is only if necessary.  :)   The way the dodgers are hitting and being the NL team, I'd have to think they are big faves...

They are the favorites, just not as big as I had thought.  ;)

P.S.  I think the Astros mystique took a bit of a hit in the LCS against a young, over-achieving Yankee team.  They will have no such luxury against a Dodger team that outscored its opponents by 30 runs in just 8 playoff games

So who all is on the roster for Golf Day at Wolf Point?

Anyone other than Peter & Dan want to play at The Woodlands, Saturday?

Steve,
The list changes, literally every day, but I’ll get an updated list posted.

LAST CALL is Wed, tomorrow at 6 pm CST.

If you contacted me and got missed, pls do so again by that time.  All my info is in first post.
I will do my best to match everyone up, but I’d prefer it just be a gathering of members for a day...show up, pair up, and play a match.  Food and drink to follow.

I think the Dodgers bull pen mystique took a bit of a hit in game 2 against a young, over-acheiving Astros team!  Lot of pitches thrown by the 6-out guy!

Sunday will be necessary, for Astros to clinch the ring... Game 3 shall be interesting. and Sunday looks to be beautiful golf day at Wolf Point!

thank you Don!
