The Sept. 6 issue of Country Life has an article profiling four British 9-hole golf courses: Balmoral, Ballindalloch Castle, Royal Worlington & New Market and Nailcote Hall. The last is a par-3 course, with no hole longer than 146 yards, that hosts the British Par-3 Championship.

Coincidentally I played both Balmoral and Royal Worlington in the last few months, and have also played Ballindalloch a few times previously as well. All great fun and very unimposing, even Balmoral and Ballindalloch.

As you know, the north of Scotland is well served with nine holers, particularly Perthshire for some reason. Playing a quick nine holes with no fuss can become very addictive.

Yes, among others, there are Tarbat, Bonar Bridge, Durness and Jon Wiggett's Brahan. ;)

Indeed David, and thanks for the mention :)

Niall,

indeed, a quick 9 holes can be very addictive as many of my regulars will tell you. Though we had one chap last week do 18 holes in 90 minutes so a quick 18 is also possible.
