Interesting- 8 green at ACC was pushed back across Rae's creek in the 80's after ACC acquired a small bit of land from ANGC.
Was formerly a downhill par 5 489 yards from the tips with no water anywhere. Was most recently a long awkward par 5 with an awkward greensite not real receptive to long approaches.(third shots mostly but a few seconds more recently)
The green always looked out of place across the Creek. (the creek was not visble prior to moving the green as it was deep in the woods)
I'm guessing the green may go back to its original location and be a par 4?
edit-I'm told green stays over creek and still par 5 (conflicts with article but that's not surprising)
Perhaps that land is not part of the deal.
#9 fairway was always poor draining being the low point on ACC property and the land for the proposed new fairway is higher ground. If they use the same green it could be an interesting dogleg right but not sure of that plan.
Normally I hate such change but both 8 green and 9 fairway were weak points at ACC and the $$ is a very important asset.
I can see the turf equipment vendors, irrigation salesman and clubhouse carpetbaggers lining up right now to push their snake oil and lighten their windfall.
