Rose was clutch, no nonsense, get the job done type.  I was referring to his playing days.

PS- I just got done having beers at the new Beards brewery over looking little traverse bay on a perfect evening.  8am Belvedere tee time tomrw, life is good. Pure Michigan...

Pretty slim pickins' for compelling golf on the west/southwest side of Atlanta.

If you've got connections, Piedmont Driving Club is very close to the airport. A maximal Rees design (just like the rest) with lots of holes built up high over the edge of a lake. It's actually one of his better jobs, IMO.

Browns Mill, a city owned course, is nearby. It's in a "rough" area but I played it quite a bit when I first moved to town. It's a really nice piece of land--I always thought it could be a jewel with a proper renovation. Haven't been back for a while so I can't vouch for conditions, but maybe worth a look.

Piedmont is SO average in my opinion and not worth the effort to try to get on. I think Brown's Mill, while rough and yes, in a tough part of town, is more interesting - some will think I am crazy to say that. Our first house in town is just south of Grant Park and I used to really enjoy BM especially when it dried out.

As for BBQ, Mike's suggestion of Fox Bros. is solid - best brisket in town.

A real wack might suggest a quick run around Candler Park's 9 and then Fox Bros. for lunch if you were up for heading north just a bit and the food was the higher priority.
