At least I hope it's Zac, and not someone else who has co-opted his name and joined the DG.

Welcome, Zac. I have to assume that he instantly becomes the best player in the group!

The only way to find out is for him to come to George Cup VII in September.

Welcome Zac.

I trust you will enjoy posting and browsing the forum.
Question without notice - could you confirm your ten round split between Fishers and Cypress please?

Welcome from me, too.  Zac, what I would be interested in learning from you is about your interest in golf course architecture and why you joined this website.  That would be a nice introduction that I am sure others would want to hear, too.

Hi Carl!
My entire life I've been around golf. My dad, Jimmy Blair, has been involved in building, renovating, and running a handful of courses in Utah, so naturally I've been interested in that side of golf for awhile.
Also being able to travel around and see so many great courses over the past 4-5 years really heightened my interest in the architecture side of it.
Obviously I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm just trying to learn as much as I can and see as many great courses along the way in hopes of one day building my dream club in Utah.

Zac,

Awesome stuff and good to see the interest on the course side.  Which courses have you and your Dad worked on?  I live in SLC, may have played a few..

Hi Tom!

Thanks for the warm welcome, hoping to get some great ideas and insight from everyone on here. And maybe help clear some things up on my project, The Buck Club.

Matt

The 10 round split at FI and Cypress had a lot of caveats to go along with it...
Including weather, course conditions, and my love for Seth raynors style of architecture.

Again I fully realize how amazing cypress point is, it's one of my favorite courses in the entire world.

I've really enjoyed all my rounds at cypress as well as fishers. I really love the "firm and fast" conditions I have encountered at fishers.

As I'm sure you are aware the Monterey can be an extremely wet place and there isn't much they can do about it.
The times I've been lucky enough to play cypress it's been absolutely amazing, but it has been a touch softer than I love.

My 9-1 split was more of joke take out of context. Both are great spots. I love them both. If I really was getting serious into the question I still think I'd go 7-3 at Fishers. Again taking nothing away from CP, my personal preference just leans me toward playing FI.

Zac,

Be careful, this is very much a Sicilian message style post from GCA Don Doak. If you aren't hiring him for your dream course he's not going to like you taking attention away from...him! This was best exemplified by his hilarious "I've never met Zac, and I don't have a problem with Zac." Or the more fun, "As they say on the PGA Tour, I'm just trying to protect the field."

Watch your back!

I like Tom. He's been nice to me.

I know there's a Geoff/Tom thing right now.

I would hope that it doesn't become a thing on this site.

Welcome Zac!  I highly recommend the course profiles in the courses by country tab for a healthy introduction to the best aspects of this site.

If you haven't seen or played Rustic Canyon outside L.A. It seems to be a GCA favorite turning a western canyon site into a links type course and might give you some ideas what can be done with your Utah dream course.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Given the parcel is in southern Utah, I would think Sand Hollow would be the most relevant to study.  Its well liked on GCA.com and regarded as the best course in Utah.

Welcome, Zac!

I believe I was one of the folks that pointed you in the direction of GCA on Twitter last week. Glad to see you signed up.

I don't always agree with your opinions on courses, but I appreciate your clear passion for golf course architecture. Hopefully you get as much out of this website as I have.

Is it? I was under the impression it was north of SLC, maybe near the Bountiful area. Zac???

Blair designed his own dream course, christened The Buck Club, and acquired a plot of land near his home in St. George, Utah, for its eventual construction.

Hi Zac.

Welcome to the forum. It's a great place to learn. The knowledge here is encyclopedic. It's also refreshing to hear from a Tour player with a real interest in this part of the game.

And if I may, I suggest you ignore the ride sniping of some members. And I don't mean Mr. Doak who I've always found to be measured in his posts.

I would suggest any of the holes of the Horse Course at the Prairie Club. Perhaps they could reconcile while discussing their choke jobs on getting the commission for the original 36.
