Tommy's Honour Movie
« on: April 20, 2017, 02:46:37 PM »
I read the book Tommy's Honour and thought it was one of the best books I have ever read.  Now that the movie is released as of 4/18, I am disappointed that it is only been shown in very limited cities.  I would have to drive 2+ hours to New Orleans to watch the movie.

Has anyone seen the movie?

Is it good, bad or ugly?

Why is it being shown only in certain cities?

Paul,
Look down a bit and you'll find another thread. It only had a weeklong run in many major cities. When I went yesterday there were five viewers.  In short, market.

Hopefully it will soon be out on BR/DVD or streaming sites.

If you're on this site, my bet is you will enjoy the movie a good deal.  If you're not on this site, unlikely.  My wife says I "tricked her" by taking her to a golf movie.  I had told her it was a period love story.  I stand by that.  And she didn't hate it.

My wife thought it was a little slow but enjoyed the story.

Paul, I did see the movie and had to drive 3 hours to see it and 3 hours back home.  I also read the book and feel that it was one of best books I have ever read.  While the movie was no where near the greatness of the book as all movies born out of books, it is well worth driving to and seeing.  Beautiful filming of sites that all will recognize if they have played those courses.  The acting was very good and the golf scenes were really well done.
As a golfer, we should all see it.  The movie, like the book is such a downer because the main character dies at the end of the movie.
I was thrilled that someone made the movie at all and that as a golfer, we owe it to those people to see it.  If the real golfers don't see it, it will not be around long.  It is the least we can do to thank them.
I met a golfer 2 hours before the move and he asked us where we were going. To a golf movie I said.  He asked who the movie was about and I told  him Tom Morris.  He had never heard the name and he has played all his life and was a 5 handicap.  That is why we should see it!

Chris,
You didn't meet a golfer, you met a guy who plays golf. They're two completely different beings.
