I unfortunately was out of town when this went up. I'm in NJ so if anyone in the area needs a sub or even just wants someone to fill out a foursome let me know!

Anyone in the NY regional want to switch w me? I live in NJ, and I'm spending way more time in Philly right now than anywhere near New England. Not sure how I ended up in the Boston bracket

Can I get moved down the mid-atlantic possibly? And Chris just takes on Cob?

.. sorry to be a pain.

Sure, I can swap out.

Northeasterners,

I missed the sign up period for this but I noticed there are a few first round byes. If anyone in the NY or Mid-Atlantic regions would fancy a first round warm up for their 2nd round contest- let me know and I'd be happy to be fodder. ;D

I'm in southern PA and can easily get to most locations.

From above it looks like there was at least one other latecomer so maybe we can help fill out the bracket!

Bracket update- Eric Hammerbacher was nice to let me drop in as a late entry in the Mid-Atlantic bracket. Thanks Eric!

We should be playing in the next couple of weeks in the Baltimore area.  Thanks Chris for organizing this- hope all the matches reach the final hole and everyone has a great time.

We have our first victor--Nate Oxman defeated Bill Crane 4&3 at LuLu CC in Philadelphia

Hopefully more results to come as the weather improves!

Should have posted this sooner, but Mike Malone won our match a couple weeks ago.  It was a fun round.

Eric Hammerbacher overcame a very surmountable 1 down deficit and eeked out a 7 and 6 nailbiter on a beautiful day for golf at Hunt Valley outside Baltimore. Best of luck Eric in your upcoming matches.

Bill and I had a blast at LuLu. We were both first-time visitors and really impressed with the quality and variety of the golf holes. LuLu has a nice set of one-shotters, each one different from the rest, a great blend of uphill and downhill holes, and some pretty sizable cross bunkers that I wasn't anticipating. It was great tapping into Bill's vast GCA knowledge and bombarding him with questions. He remarked about how LuLu would probably carry a much higher profile if it was in a more remote location and I agreed. There truly isn't a "bad" or even a "mediocre" hole there. My only criticism is that the greens aren't all that impressive, the most unique being I believe the downhill par-4 3rd, but that's a minor gripe for sure.

Chris DeToro was getting cocky on #16 at Shennecossett:

And then he closed me out 3 and 1 with a chip-in birdie on #17 !!

The Friday night warm-up at Yale was an added bonus:

Spring has sprung in Southern New England and it was a very fun two days. Thanks to Chris for organizing. It was nice to play real golf where almost every shot (match play) counted.

Chris grew up in a West Point family and we are a Navy family so we had lots of "Army Navy" stories. GCA has been lots of fun over the years, and the "2017 Northeast US GCA Knockout" is now on a long list of fun events. Thanks Ran.

Great weather, great setting, great company.

This was my first time playing Shennecosset and I found it to be a pleasant place to play.  The constant blaring of foghorns from ships in the sound adds a layer of charm.

John Bovay hosted me at The Course at Yale yesterday for our first round pairing. It was a highly enjoyable round and he took the match 4 & 3.

It was well worth the two our drive from Boston; I got to play a classic and more importantly gained a friend.

It was my first time on the course and I thought it was fabulous. My favorite hole was #8. I thought it was the most strategically sound and the green is an all-timer. I think #12, #1, and the Redan are also up there towards the top for me. #9 was a blast, our pin was on the front portion on the left hand side and I hit a high fade into the right hand bunker! Oops.

Does anyone want to start a consolation bracket?

Great playing with you, Evan. I'm so glad you thought it was worth the trip. We'll have to try to do it again sometime, either at Yale or in Boston.

It's cool that you rank #8 the highest, given that you didn't play it very well. I think it's my second-favorite, behind #10.

As for the match, it was a slim 4 & 3 victory. I got a couple of huge members' bounces that led to wins, and botched the last 3 holes while you played them around par, with a lip out eagle on 16.

Jaeger and I spoke and are hopeful that we will get our match scheduled for early June. Does that present any sort of problem, or should we look to just concede and move things along?
