The new June dates are also fine for me. I've a slight preference for the 8-10 weekend out of the two but sure I can make either work.

I believe Logan Air does fly from Inverness (INV) to Benbecula (BEB) both direct or via Stornaway.

Either of the June dates are ok with me. 

Dai's mention of Askernish is interesting.  If enough participants were willing, maybe a charter flight would be an option?

For the time being I'm keeping the reserved times for May with Golspie, but I have let them know that while we are committed to them for 2018 we are still juggling with the first two weekends in June.


I want to have all this nailed down ASAP so that people can begin nailing down their reservations.  The addition of Askernish would have to be on the leading or trailing shoulder of the BUDA. As i have played it three times and may be back in the Uists next summer, I have no interest in that excursion but have no issue with discussion and arrangements by those who are interested taking place within the 2018 BUDA thread. 


Which brings me to, per Niall's suggestion, that a specific threadS for 2018 and for each of the two following years be established to keep things cleared more readily accessible. I'll be leaving Golspie tomorrow and traveling home Wednesday and Thursday so my input may be quite limited until the weekend.  Nevertheless I'm going to create the new thread for 2018 as soon as I finish this post and we can take everything for the Golspie/Brora BUDA.

The Askernish idea sounds good though I will not be able to do this in addition to BUDA. I would love to have the group at my course either before or after as well.

Steve is absolutely right.  Askernish might be an interesting pre or post BUDA excursion but it can't form part of the BUDA itself.

Agree Mark.
Merely raising the matter in view of geographical convenience should some folks who haven't been there be interested in either pre or post Buda visit. Logistics and economies of scale etc.

I offer to organize Kington every year, but only get a luke warm response....which isn't enough for me to spend my time on the matter. Nobody else seems willing to organize Kington...maybe it is too isolated?

I'm all for adventure and golf but Brora and Askernish is borderline madness? If you drove from one to the other via the ferry, it would take 7 hours. That would be like playing Rye and deciding that as its "only 7 hours away" why not tag on Silloth while in England?  :o   ;D   ::)

PS - anyone played Skibo/Carnigie (and yes I realise it can cost an arm and leg) but with 20+ golf/architecture enthusiasts together in one place at one time 'something' might be possible, even if it's only a tour/walk about (and there's always 'right to roam').

Oh god, it not an iron man golf idea is it Thomas? 18 holes followed by a cycle across to the westcoast, swim to the Uist and run the last few miles to finish with 18 holes of golf. Or the more hair brain scheme of we could charter a plane for 20 odd people ;D ;)
