OT - A Personal Note
« on: July 27, 2016, 09:28:21 AM »
It's an indictment of the world we live in that I must come to this website for some levity and sanity.  To my friends and acquaintances, thank you.  To those I have yet to meet I hope it's sooner rather than later.  I'm grateful to Ran and this band of 1500.

Cheers,

Mike

Then why are you so ashamed of us that you refuse to post under your full name. What is said on here that you fear your bosses or stockholders may see. Do you have any other set of friends that you hide from either your work or family. We all have occupations important to us as yours is to you. Perhaps you should modify your post not to include all 1500 of us if you don't truly include all of us under your moral umbrella.

Carl, I'm well and living the dream.  Perhaps I love this site because I'm easily amused.

Ron,

You're the guy who couldn't remember his name. Just ask yourself, would this site be better if everyone had a fake name? Honestly why come on here saying how much you love us if you are ashamed of us. I don't get it.

In addition, if Michael H was to remain anonymous, that's fine by me as well. Life is too short to get caught up in the weeds.

If I worked at a publicly held company as a senior executive, there is no F__KING way I would use my (real) full name. Post away, Michael H, we understand!!!

You didn't get Overseas Golf until you experienced it. Sell the business, go work for the Fortune 500, and get some new Karma :)

Mike,

Are you saying that if I go to work for a company with a policy prohibiting posting on a social network site during working hours I need to create a fake name so I won't get caught? We all know that won't work. There are a ton of other bankers on this site posting under their real names. I honestly don't get it.

btw: What is the point of this thread anyway? What exactly is Mr H's indictment of the world we live in? What does that mean and what is the point asking anonymously? Like Mr. H said, he is sorry for ruining my buzz over Scotland. Isn't this more fun? Another thread hating on caddies by another fake namer today.  What would we do without these guys who have so little to say they whisper from the shadows?

This site would be better if you, JKavanagh, stayed in the shadows more often.  Weren't you Barney or something at some point?  A guy says thanks and you screw it up.

"Work ends up dehumanizing people." Pope Francis

Well I think you need to dig a little deeper. The way I read the broader context of Pope Francis quote, he would seem to be in support of Mike and his desire to come here for a little bit of fun:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/27/us/pope-francis-has-a-few-words-in-support-of-leisure.html

Responding to the question, “Do we need to rediscover the meaning of leisure?” Pope Francis replies: “Together with a culture of work, there must be a culture of leisure as gratification. To put it another way: people who work must take the time to relax, to be with their families, to enjoy themselves, read, listen to music, play a sport. But this is being destroyed, in large part, by the elimination of the Sabbath rest day. More and more people work on Sundays as a consequence of the competitiveness imposed by a consumer society.” In such cases, he concludes, “work ends up dehumanizing people.”

If you want to take it literally, Mike should only post on Sunday's but I say let's give him a pass.

Considering I just spent the majority of the morning consuming Thai food my dyspepsia should be running wild in around 30 minutes. Literally running wild.

Weird ducks are far preferable to lifeless poser robots.

He (Pence) is Trump's straight-man bitch. While Carrier Co. was busy moving 1400 jobs from Indiana to mexico, Mike Pence was  all wrapped up in fighting "the Jesus fight" over marriage equality and Planned Parenthood.

Good move!
