Please, give me one example of anything truly great that when you are done you are not finished kneeling begging for forgiveness because of your failings as a man and an example of humanity. I have done such at the theater, in art galleries and sadly on the golf course. God I can only pray to do it again. Oh how I wish I could piss in the mouth of people who beg for simplicity.

Peter Pallotta

JK -

No man is saved all on his own, nor is any man dammed in the company of others.

What has you (or me) pleading for forgiveness has another standing tall in blissful and silent awe.

Let us not hate the arborist because we ourselves are colour blind, nor condem the flowers because we have lost our sense of smell.

That too, but I thought it went without saying.

I've butchered some very good golf courses, but Royal Dornoch and Shinnecock Hills made me regret that I'm not a better golfer.

An honest golfer never apologizes for not playing to his handicap. That is why he pays dues and gives his full name. I don't see the problem. We all understand that everyone has a bad day. Some people just have bad/fake names. When it comes to providing for our families and or legacies we are equally important/unimportant. Come on Mike, reach the Summit and post your real name.

As if simplicity cannot be great (said with a Jewish accent and tone?).

There is no room for fat shaming on this site and so what if Sean isn't afraid to buck the cut every tree trend. Not a fan of name calling.

Non-golf.Two years ago my wife and I visited St. Petersburg and the Hermitage museum. It is an extraordinary place. Russian nobility created it and the Soviets sustained it because of its historical value. One of the reasons we went was to see Rembrandt's painting The Return of the Prodigal. I visited the painting twice. Both times I sat with it for over an hour. I became the prodigal and the wished to become like the father. I wept at the beauty and longed for my return from the far away land of my need for self protection and selfishness. I left cleansed and hopeful.

Golf. Twenty years ago I played Cypress Point. As I crossed the street going from fourteen to fifteen I was getting prepared to play sixteen and its long carry over the ocean. I was unprepared for fifteen. When I saw the green site I was struck by the beauty. God had planned the hole and a human was in such harmony with the divine that he carried out God's plan for the hole. I hit my 8 iron watched it settle a few feet from the hole and walked as slowly as I could to tap in my birdie. If I never go back it will have been enough.

This is a great response. I know it won't get me unblocked by your PM Police, but that's all right. No more name calling from me, Juan Karaoke.

Very nice Tommy,

This weekend I played in what should and will most likely be my last hurrah as a championship scratch golfer. Playing at a great course against top flight competition I was the highest seed playing the lowest handicap in the club. Full back tees, some of which I had to be shown where they even existed. Lost 8&7. It was a humiliating, soul searching, nerve exposing experience. That coupled with the news last night that I am going to be a grandfather for the first time sent me over the edge, an edge of which I am intimately familiar. Twins no less.

While the name of the course isn't important I will say that great architecture presents itself best when you are getting blasted like at a prison orientation. I couldn't reach the first hole in regulation so laid back to a perfect 100 yds and stiffed it to three feet. My opponent makes birdie. I three putt the next hole, a world renowned green, to lose and panic sets in.  You see I had started my career getting waxed 10&8 and that thought never left my mind.  My opponent never made a bogey and refused to take his boot off my throat. Little did I know I would look back at this drumming as one of my finest moments.  No way was I gonna lose 10 and 8 again.

Neither the food or homophobia impress me but I have seen greatness in the efficiency of the drive through.

It doesn't surprise me that someone that hates cooling fans for greens also hates chicken brined in pickle juice. It's the stark creativity that should beguile you.

Peter Pallotta

If he could order one on the 9th tee using a pre-paid voucher and then swing by the drive through on his cart on the way to the 10th, I'm thinking JK would be eating nothing but chick-fil-As...He has his beliefs and principles,  but asking him to forego golf, food, pavement, carts, and a slice of Americana is asking too much

Congrats on the impending grandfatherhood John.  Twins to boot!  Talk about being stripped down to your essential core, in the rarest and most beautiful way. I'm sure you'll note both the sacred and profane poetry in your new role.  You'll love and embrace them.
