Bulle Rock or Atlantic City CC ?
« on: May 25, 2016, 02:02:54 PM »
There is a good chance I will be in Philly on June 10th and was hoping some here can give me some advice as to which course I should play.

Thanks

I'll give you my advice (you asked!):  do you lean heavily toward a more old school course or modern?

If you want old school, ACCC is the place to enroll!:

I'd also ask which you appreciate more, a course with a high degree of challenge and difficulty or a course that is playable and less exacting?   Both can be fun, but in different ways.

I've never played ACCC ( been meaning to get up there), but I love Bulle Rock and play it a lot.  I think from the correct tees it is very fair,  and I like the strategies and options on some of the short par 4's.   The Maryland Open is at Bulle Rock in July so the course should be in great shape, as it was a few weeks ago when I played there.

Shoot me a PM, I'd join you at either place if you're interested.

If conditioning is a factor in your decision:

A bunch of my friends played ACCC this season and were disappointed with it's condition. Given the $200+ green fees, they expected it to be in better shape.

I know Bulle Rock's conditioning is always great.

Bone in ribeye or porterhouse? :) Nice problem to have.  Sorry to hear about the conditions at ACCC, but it's still a phenomenal design.  I'd say it's more of a must play than Bulle, but Bulle is strong as well, and if you like Pete Dye golf, you get to see a lot of his strategies and ideas well presented.

Why not do both in the same day? Problem solved!

Played Mountain Ridge last summer - fantastic track and will be a great day. I didn't see it before, but the recent tree clearing gives the course a very open feel which I enjoyed.
