Should ease the traffic on our courses a bit!

Mike,
Saturday works best considering our tee times. I'd prefer that over Topgolf .

Pretty bad logistics.  East Lake is far southeast and we will be due north. Plus there's limited parking at East Lake which adds time to both ends.

Bill,
I hate to admit you may be right. I think the TV broadcast ends at 6pm EDT, which would mean the leaders will tee off sometime around 2pm, which means the first players would tee off around noon, or slightly later. Am I calculating this correctly?

For the captains, I doubt my USGA hdcp will be below 17.0

 8)  Mike,

Two from TX seriously considering late signup...  Ms Sheila wants to know if there'll be a Hole-in-one pot and how many will be playing from 6000 yards or so or any problems with such?

Bump for late sign ups.  There are five open slots and some of y'all haven't sent deposits.  It's just two weeks away now so shake a leg!

Mike,
I doubt I will play before mid-week, my competitors are whining.  Will be a USGA 15.7 for the Dixie Cup.

This is not a withdrawl from the D C.

The amount of trash talking on this thread is embarrassingly low. No Evan to promote a BBQ dinner. The expectation of a not to be forgotten captain's speech? I guess I am on the north squad with a you've got to be kidding me 15.7 hdcp index. A Clemson team that plunged in the rankings (all the way to fifth).

Here is an update re: Saturday Golf at Rivermont GC:

The tee times begin at 2:30.  Please feel free to come early, have lunch and hit balls.  The course architect, Michael Riley can't make the dinner but will be at the club from 1:00-2:00 to sit around, eat and answer any crazy questions y'all may have.  Hopefully his dinner obligation cancels and he can hang out with us afterwards and we can ask him what the hell he was thinking on some of those greens  ;D

After golf the dinner menu is:

A House salad with either shrimp or scallops on top (my Chef hasn't decided which yet)
A 5 oz. Filet Mignon and Salmon as the entree
Asparagus, carrots and whipped potatoes

Some dessert the Chef also hasn't figured out yet

Coffee, Tea and Water
(Adult beverages are on your own).

(Dinner is included in the golf price for the day.  The $65 is for guest fees, cart fee (walking is certainly OK) range balls and dinner).

If you want to come early for lunch, we do accept cash or check but not credit cards.  We are also happy to bill anything back to your home club if you like.  Let me know if you can make lunch and I can set up an area for everyone where you can pepper Mike with questions in peace and quiet!

Looking forward to seeing many old friends and meeting many of you for the first time.

Travel safely,

Chris Cupit

Less than 15 hours until my flight leaves. I guess I won't need to pack rain gear or sweaters. I have a 3:45 arrival and will drive my rental to the restaurant and park there. Hope I get there before dinner is done and y'all clear out.

The South leads the "others" 4-2 after two days of match play" with singles this morning. Both the Standard Club and Rivermont won their days, Standard Club with it's rather penal approaches (for me) highlighting it high slope rating, and Rivermont with its unclear but definite strategies for continued play and Macdonald tendencies. Great dinner at Rivermont and meeting Chris Burke made attending this Dixie Cup the right choice for me.
Only one day of heat and humidity and then back to my normal clime.

Another plug for Rivermont. A low key and delightfully strategic course. It is a good model for golf courses for a game facing an uncertain future.

There is a lot to be learned from Rivermont both on and off the course.

Sunday was unusual for the Dixie Cup. A couple of stalwarts of the south had bad days and withdrew, but I understand they are beter. The competition moved to stableford and Highland Links won quite handily, the high score I believe being 31. The greens were certainly different than what we saw the first two days. After a third day of heat and humidity, I retired to the bar and ordered a couple of Arnold Palmers.

With the third day washed, the South has the Dixie Cup trophy.
