Hillsborough, CA, right on the border of Burlingame and 3 blocks from the Avenue. 18 minutes from Olympic - home track as a member since February 15, 1974. My office is at the edge of the SFO runway  . . . . . four minutes from the gates for those who wish to visit the Armenian Embassy.

Not too bad though...driving distance to the Lafayette courses. There are worse places. I grew up in SE Indiana, half way between Indy and Cincinnati. We did have a great (very liberal use of the term) private club in town, but good public options were very lacking until you reached the Indy or Cincy areas.

Batesville?

Yes sir. Are you familiar?

We have had threads about your home courses but that has been quite a while. Looking at Mike Cirba's tour of Gullane made me ask if he lived in Scotland. I really don't know. So, where do you live? ;)
For 33 years I lived and worked in Arnold, MD, just outside Annapolis.  I now live in the Shenadoah Valley in the mountains of western Virginia at Bryce Resort, a little golf/ski resort.

Tommy, I live in "Arnold, MD, just outside Annapolis" and know from your posts that you were the pastor at the local Lutheran church.  What a shame I never met you.  I do know several of your former congregants (I hesitate tot call them "your worshippers", as it might be interpreted as if you were the object of their worship, but then again, maybe that's ok).  In the course of conversation, they have said that they miss you quite a bit.  Enjoy your new perch!

Have resided in Keene, NH for 66 years, my clubs are Bretwood Golf Club (Cornish-Barrett-37 holes) and Keene CC (Wayne Stiles). Married 45 years, 2 children and 6 grandchildren. Graduate of Keene High School and Keene State College. Born here and will die here. Would not live anywhere else.
Nice town, spent a week there at Nanotech.

As for me Wick in the North of Scotland. (Don't worry nobody knows where it is but to golfers, 60 miles north of Royal Dornoch)

Downtown Franklin, Tennessee smack dab on the Union Army's eastern flank during the Battle of Franklin.    Voted by the readers of Guns & Gardens Magazine as the "Greatest Small Town in America."  Also no. 8 on Travel + Leisure's list of "America's Favorite Towns."    All that notwithstanding Tim Weiman's correct assessment of the greater Nashville area as "an architectural wasteland."  I no longer belong to a club and have played all of two rounds here in the past two years.

Front porch swing is always available to GCA'ers.

HA! Yep, Batesville gets you from the birthing bed (Hill-Rom) to the grave (Batesville Casket).

I did grow up at Hillcrest. Lived right across the street until I headed off to college. Did you ever play there? I was born in Cincinnati and lived in Mt. Healthy until I was 5, then we moved to Batesville.

The Old Continent. Originally from Austria, but in The Netherlands for many years. I live in Maastricht, a town founded by the Romans around 200 A.D., very close to the German and Belgian borders.

And famous for the treaty signed in 1992 which led to the creation of the European Union and laid the groundwork for the single currency. I just about remember some Social Policy from university.

I live in Grasonville, MD and play at Prospect Bay CC. While not up to the architectural standards of classic courses, it is a fun, challenging, well-maintained and affordable private club which I am fortunate to have at my disposal. We have a regular group of 2-3 foursomes every weekend and have way too much fun, which is the idea, correct?

Prospect Bay = sandbagger haven ;)

Just kidding. Congrats on winning the title. Great group of guys. Kicked my squad's ass in the team matches. Hope you are well David. When are you coming up to play?

And Timonium, MD for me.

Thanks, Jim. Your guys were gentlemen and a pleasure to play golf with. We were lucky to escape with a win against Congressional.

I guess we missed the good fall weather. How about in the spring? I'm looking forward to it. The descriptions of the course design and conditions were fantastic. Some of our guys have had the good fortune to play many top courses and said the East Course is incomparable.

No I never played at Hillcrest. The family of a high school friend of mine, who lived right across the street and was also on the golf team, was from Batesville. He and his dad often went to Batesville in the summer to visit family, and I think they would play Hillcrest every once in awhile. I went to Batesville with my friend once. We played a godawful public course whose name escapes me (this was 20+ years ago).

Another public course in or near Batesville? Cricket Ridge is a nine holer in Oldenburg, but you wouldn't realize that you had left Batesville, Otherwise, it may have been North Branch in New Point...or Indian Lakes, which certainly fits the godawful description!

I do have a bit of a soft spot for North Branch. It isn't very good by any measure, but it is a case of a land owner who built his own course and still serves as owner/operator. It gets a ton of play from locals and some that aren't so local. It is also my father in law's home course so I usually play it at least once a year.
