Do any great modern courses play over a public road?
The back tee on the 12th at Tumble Creek plays over a small development road.
The 9th at Sebonack plays over the entrance road, and it turns out that was NOT a good idea, because it makes a mess of the logistics for a big tournament [which we never once discussed while building the course]. I was amazed they were able to work around it for the Women's Open, with all of the players and officials and caddies and TV crews and most of the gallery having to use that road to get to the rest of the course. When someone asks me if they'll ever have the men's Open there I just roll my eyes.
