I was going to mention Minikahda myself, as one of my favorites -- all of which include not just golf, but reminders of the world outside.


My spot at Minikahda would be that patio between the pro shop and the first tee -- with Lake Calhoun, downtown Minneapolis, the pool AND golf on the first and 18th holes.

What about GCGC? You may not an Ocean, but you can see guys playing in on a par 3, which I assume leads to a lot of betting and smack talking.

Today I had the pleasure of playing a round of golf at Tazegzout in Marocco. Atlantic Ocean view from the clubhouse is quite spectacular.


Crail is very nice too, as is Bamburgh Castle.

Kiawah Ocean Course is the best clubhouse location and setting I have seen.  The view from the picture window in the central room is just mesmerizing.  TOC is awesome.  Dornoch is solid.  Brora is pretty damn awesome.  Taos Country Club is pretty special.


Best Martini I ever had was on the balcony at Old Head.

Best links course view is probably Kilspindie. Looking out across the course on a windy day at all the golfers battling away is a wonderful sight. Castle Stuart is a pretty close second.

Inland course is Howley Hall where watching players finishing off a round on the tough par three 18th with the Pennines stretching out into the distance behind them is fun.

Best view from a front room is at my place watching players wrestle with the rumpled contours of the second green on a fine summers evening.

Sticking with my notion that the house should be intimately tied with the course


Kington...what a view of 1 & 18...unsual because its the low part of the course


Alwoodley...the setting makes one want to tee it up...feels like a framed photo


Hunstanton...drools of golf...and=somehow of a time gone by

Rye, looking across the 18th green, the 15th fairway and out to sea. Sherwood Forest when the heather is in bloom and you can watch the play on two greens and three tees. Woking on the terrace on a hot day with a Pimms.
