I signed up for the tee time release, didn't open the email in time, and the Padres marketing director called me. I'm going to be in SD this weekend anyways so I might swing by and try and find an opening or at least have a look.

Anything that gets more people interested in golf is good by me.

This course is obviosuly pandering to the non-GCA crowd.  All downhill tee shots.....  See everything in front of you.....  Blah, blah blah.....

Am I the only one who sees a tragic ending to this thing?

My typical golf nightmare has me unable to complete a backswing -- even more unable than my shoulder allows in waking life.

My new nightmare: teeing off on that last hole, losing my balance, and tumbling to my untimely but well-deserved death...

The only player to ever hit a ball over the Wrigley Field center field scoreboard was Sam Snead.

The only way of really finding out a man's true character is to play golf with him. In no other walk of life does the cloven hoof so quickly display itself.

About 45 years ago when I was just getting started in the exposition and convention service contracting business, a promoter hired our company to decorate the San Francisco Civic Auditorium for the first San Francisco Golf Show.  In addition to setting up an exhibit area, I was also tasked to build a replica of the 16th green at Spyglass Hill!   We hung a tunnel of netting to protect the folks on the exhibit floor and then built a tee up in the stands.  We built the green with real sod and the front left pond with a rubber membrane over sand bags.  Everything worked fine until golf balls started sailing into the "pond" and punctured the membrane.  Much anguish ensued as we struggled to plug the leaks with a line of customers waiting to tee off from above!
