Pinehurst Resort Courses (not No.2), got very low scores.  I was surprised, as I just assumed that No.1 & No.3 were just miniaturized versions of No.2 without the excessive efforts "defend par".  From CG Vol. 2, I have decided to skip them and just pay up for No.2, sometime before next spring on a relatively warm day.
The latest Dixie Cup courses were represented and IMHO accurately assessed and rated.  I need more rounds a Lookout Mt.!

Carl,

Haven't been there in a while, but 4s and 5s sound about right to me for the balance of the resort proper.  If they want to actually keep knowledgable consumers on property after playing #2 instead of scampering off to play Mid Pines, Dormie et al., they'll undertake a proper resto/reno of #1&3.

I did notice a small clerical error on the back cover where it states "... is the first of five volumes, ...".  Should be the second now, but not a big deal.

Thanks for pointing this out, so I will be sure to fix for Volume 3.  It seems like the cover is always a last-minute thing and I have difficulty focusing on proofreading it properly.  The first cover also had an error!

I did notice that there were a number of courses that could have made the scores higher if they had been played, especially in North Carolina.  But you can't play them all.

Tommy,
You have played tons of courses -- so would love to see the NC courses you think would have scored well or that you at least would have liked to have seen included in this volume.  Please share.

While South Carolina has more than its fair share of public and resort courses, North Carolina has more than its fair share of fine private course.
North Carolina courses I would liked to have seen in The Confidential Guide Volume 2.  I noticed that the mountain courses will be reviewed in Volume 3 because they are closed in the winter.  Many of NC’s best courses are in the mountains: Roaring Gap, Biltmore forest, Wade Hampton, Grandfather, Diamond Creek, Linville, and others.
Courses I would like to have seen in this volume are:
Greensboro CC The Farm Course
Sedgefield CC Ross Course
Old North State
Old Chatham
Governor’s Club
Myers Park
I’d like to know how they feel about the work done at Forsyth.  I have not played it since the work was done.

Looking forward to getting my copy - have any Canadians received their book yet?

It took some time for volume #1 to get across the border last year so I'm staying patient.

If you do not yet have it in Canada, I will need mine scanned and emailed to have it before Xmas in Argentina! It will be a long wait...

I'm told we just received a bunch of books BACK from the post office because we filled out the wrong customs form ... [they wanted the shorter form] ... not off to a good start in that department.

Ha.  Good old customs.  I'm in Western Canada and hoping to have mine before a trip to Phoenix at the end of the month.  Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the update Tom.  Good to know and certainly not surprising to hear about the hassles at the border.

I'm not sure they ever got out of the Traverse City post office.  I hope not, so we don't have to pay to send them a second time.

Put Pallotta on the case. I hear that he and the Canadian PM are very close.  ;)

Hi Tom et al,

Apologies for putting this in a thread but it seems messages are no longer an option.

My good lady, Natalie Willcocks, has just placed an order for a copy to the UK. Does the offer of a signed copy for GCAers sill apply and, if so, please could I ask you to scribble as appropriate?

Thanks.

Got mine, Grey.
