Something worthwhile to read in Golf Digest

Finally.

The following should be posted on the bulletin board of every golf club in the US.  After just walking 36 this week with another GCA-er, much of the first round in a steady rain, I'm feeling the need to preach to the American masses who have drifted much too far from the beautiful simplicity and sense of adventure of this wonderful game.  http://www.golfdigest.com/blogs/the-loop/2015/07/what-americans-can-learn-from.html?mbid=social_facebook

The Midwesterners I am watching, after months of rain, play cart path only are not lazy. They are creatures of habit. A similar argument could be made for why Scots walk...#coughcheapcough

I think it would be fair to say that, yes, while we do have some elements of golf elitism here in bonnie Scotland, there's also the widest possible spectrum of golfing opportunities, from the local muni for a fiver to super-privates like Loch Lomond and Muirfield.

I'm not sure I understand it either except I've heard more than a few women comment affirmatively about any man in a kilt. 

I've yet to try it myself and likely will hold steadfast to that position.

If Muirfield is considered "super-private" we'll need a new adjective to describe the typical American club that doesn't allow riff raff to play every Tuesday/Thursday, let alone courses that are even harder to play typical US clubs, like ANGC.
