should you look for a camera with HDR (High Dynamic Range) capability, where you auto-bracket with multiple exposures and then aggregate?

I think it depends on how big you want to print or display ...

Small - Iphone 5 or newer should be fine
Medium - Camera like Canon S110 or similar
Large - Sony RX 110 or similar
Extra Large - Canon 5D III or Nikon 800e or similar

On courses where I'm walking with Caddy, I'll normally bring my Sony and maybe Canon in rare circumstances.  With cart, usually the largest camera.

I do recommend HDR if you go really spectacular places and/or don't have a lot of time to do post-processing.

And I'm using version (aka "mark") II, even though mark III was out when I bought mine. The manual viewfinder on mark III seemed more of a hassle than a benefit to me, and the mark IV appears to retain it.
