I am just back from a trip down to Naples on which I was able to play a couple of rounds at Hideout.  I am more impressed with the course each time I play.  It was in terrific condition, though they were protecting the greens by skipping the rolling in anticipation of the member-guest this weekend (so not lightening fast, but still faster than your average green).

The mix of holes is terrific.  Long and short, bending to the right and the left, greens with subtle movement and greens with dramatic movement, interesting risk/reward opportunities and the chance to think your way around the course as well.

Many of the high points of Hideout have already been described above, so I will just echo the bottomline - Hideout is a great place to play golf in SW Florida.  It is everything you hope golf in Florida could be (and more) and it focuses on golf without the other accoutrements.

After sniffing around the course for more than a decade due to reviews like those in this thread, I got the chance to visit this weekend.  One of the more enjoyable courses I have played, particularly in Florida.    Terrific variety of holes, interesting angles and a wonderful vibe to the place.   I am not sure how long it took us to play but would put the over/under at three hours.

Don't know this course.
But a side benefit of seeing this discussion is seeing Bob Huntley's name from the beginning of it in 2015.
Miss him.  Great man.  Lover of GCA.

Couldn’t agree more. The golf course is just flat out fun. Great staff.

I think some of the caddies from Dornoch spend the winter months looping at the Hideout.

Just wanted to mention that Hideout was designed by Kelly Blake Moran, a very talented and edgy architect who used to post here fairly regularly.

KBM did very good work at Rock Spring Club in New Jersey before budget cuts halted that restoration.

If memory serves, I believe the original architect was Dick Wilson.

Per their website the club opened in 2000 as an original Kelly Blake Moran design.  Not sure if there was a preexisting Wilson course on the site?

Perhaps a mixup between Hole in the Wall (Wilson, 1957) and Hideout (KBM, 2000)?

Looking at aerials there was no preexisting course on that site.

Michael you are correct, until Mo., Larry and Larry built it.
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

Yes, I am aware.  I was suggesting that Mitch may be mixing the two places up.  Close proximity, similar names, etc.
