Some interesting aspects of the scoring:
Not surprisingly the 15th played the easiest relative to par. The pros made the most eagles and the most birds there. Interestingly of the scores that were above par on the 15th 24.2% of them were doubles or worse, this is by far the highest ratio of all of the holes (the 3rd and 4th were 17.1% and 17.7% respectively)
The two toughest holes were par-3’s, the 8th and 12th with neither hole seeing a score above double posted
The short par-4 3rd (354yds) and 4th (307yds) seventh and third most difficult holes on the course
The low round of the tournament on the West was a 62 (-10 with the 16th playing as a par 4) while the field averaged 72.93 (+0.93)
Having played the course right before and after the tournament it was not set up too much different than the conditions for normal member play. The greens were slightly more firm and the rough was slightly higher but certainly not overly penal. The bunkers did appear to have slightly more and softer sand in them at that time. This allowed the ball to plug more frequently and certainly made them more of a hazard for some of the guys I played with. I doubt the club pros had too much additional trouble with them however.
