I think the LPGA should found the Marion Hollins Invitational tournament at Pasatiempo, or ideally Cypress Point Club if possible given Marion's involvement in the beginning of those courses. Play it Master's week. Three hour broadcast of the final round after the Masters, and in prime time.

My original thought was to move it to Cypress Point as the length would be fitting and the courses beauty would keep the viewer engaged. But i think one of the negotiation sticking points, among many, would be the idea of holding the biggest womens event in the game on a course that does not permit women members. Passatiempo would be a perfect medium.

The tournament will never leave the Coachella Valley due to the tradition, attendance and the business generated. The weather is almost allows perfect. Each year numerous visitors to the tournament and parties (which are just as important as the golf) decide to buy a second home.   It is a hugely important week from a commerce standpoint. For the LPGA it is their home run of the year.  I doubt the commissioner really cares how the GCA community feels about the course.   If you want a better golf course for this major, someone will need to build one in the valley as this event is not going to leave the area.

The mowing lines are, in a word, ugly. Completely straight and unnecessarily narrow.

The whole place looks really, really dated to me.... like some kind of tired 60s attempt to be modern that fails in every way to do so. It's hard for me to take the event seriously when it becomes a "designated major" like the LPGA insists on doing to events. Screams of contrivance.

Despite this, I do actually enjoy watching them playing most of the time.

No one has mentioned the 800 lb gorilla in the room.

The "Kraft Nabisco" has no sponsor for next year.
pretty sure the next sponsor isn't going to keep the same name-that would make it hard for the "Major" (formerly the Dinak Shore" to keep its identity.

It has been reported in the local news that there are at least three companies bidding on the right to be the sponsor.  And yes, it will still be the Dinah even it it becomes the "Pizza Hut Dinah Shore Championship".

Doesn't need to. Just add the event the next weekend at Pasa.

How about PGA West Stadium course from 6500 yds? La Quinta Mountain?
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

OK, call it the Womens Masters and move it to Cypress Point every year. I'll watch it.

The LPGA suffers because a) Kraft Nabisco really shouldn't be the name of a major and b) the women are insufferably boring to watch.

With regard to b): the men are often insufferably boring as well. Sunday at the Masters is often compelling, but try sitting through 3 hours of a web.com, European Tour or most PGA Tour events. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but the prospect of watching (choose your culprit here) wait for his playing partner to hit before even beginning to discuss his own shot (yardage, lie, wind, elevation change, etc.) and then take a half dozen practice swings before setting up to the ball (assuming he doesn't back off and repeat the practice swing if the slightest noise or shift in breeze tickles his ear) to hit each and every shot of his 6-hour trip around the TPC Southwind doesn't light my fire.

I agree completely....I'm down to watching the majors only myself.....and a couple of those have nearly become insufferable themselves!
