For drama on the PGA Tour, 16 and 17 at TPC Sawgrass.

Also Rae's Creek on Amen Corner at Augusta. Add the lake on 15 and 16 at Augusta too.

Many of the examples listed here do not strike me as great or original, and I was never too sure about #9 at Wolf Point - thank you Sammy.

How are the holes at The Emirates not like thousands of other 9 & 18th holes that finish surrounding a pond in front of the clubhouse?

Streams are where to look for this answer.

Co Sligo has two which are terrific.  A burn cuts in front of #7 green and is used well in dividing the 14th fairway nearer the coast.  Another burn runs in front of the 8th green and is used very well and unusually behind the drop shot par 3 13th.

9 and 10 at Chicago share a pond that should never really come into play on either hole.  I have splashed down on both holes multiple times.

The use of the arroyo at Wilshire CC is magnificent. There is an extensive post somewhere about it.

Anybody played Grand Cypress North and South, the Nicklaus course near Disney World?

The 9th is a long par 4 dogleg left on the right side of a big lake, the 18th a mirror image on the left side, the two with a huge shared green.

Thoughts?

The Nordelta course by Nicklaus in Buenos Aires, Argentina has two examples on the same (end of construction with dormant bermuda) photo below.

Center bottom is the par 3 12th hole (210 yards), followed by the par 5 13th (522 yards) with its green close to the clubhouse and next to the 18th green which is the par 4 across the lake (490 yards). From the elevated club house you can see all of 13 and 18. The short par 4 17th (349 yards) borders the same lake.

As a bonus, you can also see from the CH all of 14, 15 and 16. The par 4 15th (407 yards) borders the same lake than the nearly island green par 3 16th (167 yards).

The course is arguably the most difficult in South America, with strong prevailing winds (against on 13 and 18) and has hosted 3 Argentine Opens, one of which was won by Angel Cabrera.

I love Buenos Aires, the Paris of South America, but I wouldn't be flying south to be tortured by that course!   Better to be tangoing in the city.

Played Grand Cypress many times.  Both holes can be very difficult, especially with the newer back tee on 9 North.  A par is no easy task on either of the holes.

Except it has the best greens I have seen outside top 10 ranked courses. But agreed, you would probably enjoy more the 100 year old courses built by the British, as well as the Jockey Club and Olivos.
