We went from Burns and creeks to Ponds and lakes.

went from bunkers left and right to forced carries.

Went from courses built to accept a 2 iron to ones built for hybrid/7 wood (i can't hit a hybrid and i have lots of confidence with my 2 iron but it serves me no good on modern courses)

I was born in the wrong generation, i am old school for life...

I wonder if a lot of change happened concurrently.....higher ball flight, wall to wall irrigation(automatic irrigation as well), golf carts, new design philosophies, golf as a business and industry, etc.

Lateral fairway slopes mattered less and approach contours and approach shot angles mattered  MUCH less.

Irrigation got better, courses got greener, and trees got planted (and got bigger)

Irrigation got better, courses got greener, and trees got planted (and got bigger)

None of which has anything to do with any changes in architectural features
