This post is never a winner with anyone, but I'll make it each year we have this contest. I find it toolish to say "this one will win" or "winner winner chicken dinner," as thought the other photos don't have a chance. I think a "great shot" or "amazing filmic reaction" suffice.

That said, I love the hyperbolic, tongue-in-cheek comment "best photo ever" from BS.

Quickly reaching for the phone, I was able to capture how a visiting American celebrates an albatross (double eagle) on the sandbelt.

I'm sure he would have celebrated in a different manner if there had been a cart girl around.

Jonathan Becker graced us with his presence here in Australia over January. On a warm summer morning, we played Royal Melbourne West, then ventured to Kingston Heath for the afternoon round. Becker was playing well, and even found an old rusted horse shoe in the rough while looking for a playing partner's ball on KH #1. We wondered if it was once worn by a horse at the site for digging out bunkers.

However it got there, it brought him good luck.

After a big drive on 7 (reachable par 5) Becker had 176yds to the hole. Following some discussion on line, wind, green front, and club, he let rip. After several seconds of majestic flight, the ball landed precisely where we described, and rolled smoothly into the cup. It genuinely never looked like it was going to miss. Quickly reaching for the phone, I was able to capture how a visiting American celebrates an albatross (double eagle) on the sandbelt.

MM, who is the guy in the photo? Can't be Becker, that guy's collar is down.

Man, there are some great photos on this thread. Here is my meager contribution. Anybody want to guess the courses?

Yes. And to speed things along (and not hijack the thread), the other two are also in Mass.

Double strap disqualification.

That should just be a minor deduction, .5 points off my vault score.

It was like 40*C that day and the collar quit standing up after our first round!

Good job by MM with the quick reaction time.  Glad I could help you out here.  :)

Double strap disqualification.

Improperly sized photo disqualification.

That is a legitimate penalty. I was too lazy to shrink it. But there is nothing off to the right side of the photo.

My picture must be really great since I'm drawing all the jealous criticism. It's lonely at the top.

Thanks...I had a disk slip in my back a couple of years ago. I was putting on a sock, next thing I knew I was on the ground and couldn't move for several hours. Took some visits to the chiropractor and physical therapists to get things back on track. I do planks, straight leg raises, cats and camels, etc. But I still judge all physical activity - tennis, golf, taking a box up the stairs, painting a room, etc. - by how much lower back pain I have the next morning. The moral of the story - don't ever grow to be 6'6".

"Swilken Bridge" Photo from The Last Round of Golf ever played at Acacia Country Club near Cleveland, Ohio which is NLE.

The revered Bill McKinley and I braved wintery conditions on December 19th of 2012 (which I think still allows this photo to be eligible...even though I feel like the QB from Northern Illinois going to the Heisman Presentation).  We gave this hidden gem a proper send off with an epic match which resulted in two under par rounds of golf and yet another "W" for Mr. McKinley.
Never let the quality of your game determine the quality of your time spent playing it.

I'm a regular reader and infrequent poster who loves photographing golf holes almost as much as he enjoys playing them.
Pictures of golf holes are like pin-up girls. The difference, many of us have played them and we can talk about it with each other without coming to jealous blows.

The Gallery Golf Club, North Course, Tucson, Arizona, par-3, 7th. A tough hole in cold, windy, December weather. Three days ago.

Thanks, Phillip. There is always the trusty 'modify' button. I like both. One is sentimental. The other is interpretive. Mostly, I put them up to share.

Later.
