PD is my favorite of the four 18-hole courses at Bandon.  I'm a bit of a sucker for eye candy and the handsome/rugged look of the bunkering really fits my eye.  The oceanfront holes are spectacular, of course, but many of the inland holes are very strong as well. I'm a big fan of the Redan 17th, a hole that always kills me and despite the relatively penal fairway bunkering on 18, I think it is a terrific finisher.  Speaking of finishers, they can spread my ashes in the right greenside bunker.  Probably the greatest bunker I've ever seen.

Great pics of a great course with great weather.
Never had the pleasure of a visit to Bandon.
When it does happen, that weather will be appreciated.
Seriously, how frequently (and usually when) are those beautiful days?

Am confused about that pic of hole 12.
It said the hole shared a fwy with the other 5 par, #2.
But the copy shows #2 to be a 4 par.

#2 is a par 4.  I think the post meant to say #3.

It looks like the Bleacher Report just did the same exercise...

Not to steal the ending, but here is how it turned out:

4. Bandon Dunes
3. Bandon Trails
2. Old MacDonald
1. Pacific Dunes

Bump. Everyone on this board who hasn't played here needs to either (a) book a trip now or (b) start saving. This is what GCA Heaven looks like

So many great holes on this course.  The short ones (1,6,11,14,16) are all somehow some of the toughest.

The biggest regret of my golfing year is somehow making it through 13 on PD on a breezy July afternoon at +3, then blowing up to an 81 over the last five holes.  14, downwind, seems like such an innocent hole, yet it's so easy to make a double.  16 might be the toughest green to hold downwind I have ever seen.

I love Pacific Dunes and everything about the resort.  Is it the greatest golf resort on earth?

My limited experience at other resorts aside...yes

As a friend said once, "What they do at Bandon, they do best...what they don't do, I don't give a F*^k about"

I have reservations for this November and February, as well as November 2015...when they open the books for 2016, I will make my reservations immediately.

My wife and I are currently remodeling our main bathroom with instructions to the contractor that we want a Lilly Pond style shower stall.

Bandon is wonderful. But give me the choice between a return there, and a return to Cabot - especially when the Cliffs opens next year - then I'm going to Cape Breton. Hard to pu my finger on why, but I preferred the vibe.

+1 You're going to meet a more focused, interesting clientele at Cabot.  The first few years are always like that.
