Cleveland, OH
1. Canterbury GC
2. The Country Club
3. Kirtland CC
4. Pepper Pike Club
5. Sand Ridge GC
6. Lakewood CC
7. Beechmont CC
8. Shaker Heights CC
9. Chagrin Valley CC
10. Westwood CC

8 of those courses are on the East side, while the other 2 (Lakewood and Westwood) are on the West side of Cleveland. Others like Elyria and Barrington would be included but I think they are just too far outside the city.
2016 Highlights:  Streamsong Blue (3/17); Streamsong Red (3/17); Charles River Club (5/16); The Country Club - Brookline (5/17); Myopia Hunt Club (5/17); Fishers Island Club (5/18); Aronomink GC (10/16); Pine Valley GC (10/17); Somerset Hills CC (10/18)

Cleveland really has a wealth of courses. Mayfield did not make your list. And there are several fine public options such as Fowlers Mill, Sleepy Hollow, Mannikki and others. And then of course there is Canton Brookside about an hour south. Our sports teams may not be much (except for the Tribe!) but the golf in NE Ohio is fantastic.

Mark,
I think? Phillip answered your question as Maidstone is in Easthampton Town (though quite close to the actual town I live in , Sag Harbor, which is the dividing line between Easthampton Town and Southampton Town)
If we were including EH town we could add South Fork, Montauk, Maidstone, and East Hampton.

and that doesn't count Shelter Island or the North Fork

Gotta have Niagara Falls CC in there. I would also include Whirlpool and Wanakah and possibly OPCC, but can't argue with the top 3 at all.

Sorry Charlie, I am in the same boat, but I always ask the question whenever I play in a different city so I figure why not ask here.

Calgary, Alberta  all public courses
1.  Banff out-of-town but great course enjoyed by Calgarians and the world
2.  Kananaskis:  gone but not forgotten
3.  Gleneagles:  Les Furber design, good 17 holer with outstanding western Canadian views
4.  Heritage Pointe Desert-Heritage;  Ron Garl design, 17 good holes (1 Heritage is silly);  has another 9 -  Pointe, bit awkward first play,   The best three holes at Heritage are known as the Loup, 3 superb practice holes!  Best value in Alberta!
5.  D'Arcy Ranch: a Dye design, superb driving course with 18 fine greens
6.  Sirocco Golf Club and Blue Devil: two good plays, Sirocco bit tougher, Blue Devil more open and will improve with age

see above
misses by about 30 miles
and if I expanded it by 30 milles in every direction, it'd be quite a list(even though most of the additional area would be water ;))

These are the courses I like the best:

1. White Bear Yacht Club
2. Interlachen
3. Hazeltine
4. Oak Ridge
5. Somerset
6. Minikahda
7. Stillwater CC
8. Midland Hills
9. Golden Valley G&CC
10. Windsong Farm
They are all pretty close in Minneapolis.  My list today:

1. WBYC
2. Oak Ridge
3.  Minikahda
4. Golden Valley
5. Woodhill
6. North Oaks
7. Interlachen
8.  Windsong
9.  Minneapolis
10. Stoneridge

Hazeltine, Somerset, Midland Hills, Minnesota Valley and T&CC could all make it on a different day.  The only contenders I am aware of that I have not played are Hillcrest and Stillwater.

Wow! I would think that most that venture to Minneapolis for golf have their sights set on Interlachen and Hazeltine... and it seems they're missing out on a whole bunch of more interesting courses.

Thanks for posting Jason and Rick.
