TPC Boston...

Yech.. How does it work?  Never played it but hate the look. The infatuation of TV with the drivable fourth is unwatchable.

The square tees juxtaposed against the artificial naturalness is as ugly as anything I have seen this year.

There was a whole decade of that.  Where were you?

I've played it about 10 times and I think it looks better live than it does on television. It has some solidly thought out holes and Hanse and Faxon have improved it. Holes I think note worthy would include, 2,4,7,10,11,12, and 18. It's not a visually appealing property, I'll grant that, but the course is enjoyable and walkable after the staff drops you off at the first tee.

One, four, five, seven, eight, nine, ten, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen and the recently renovated eighteenth green were highlighted as Hanse renovations by Shackelford.

I think the course looks pretty good now, especially compared with the other TPCs (Sawgrass excepted). I also like to watch the players try to get up and down at #4. Pros so rarely have to attack pins with long clubs these days. I would rather hear announcer fawn over this hole than the "Bear Trap."

I prefer a free-form tee area running from green to tee, but if that isn't possible or reasonable to achieve, I much prefer squared off tees to circular tees.
