Played there in early June. Staff told me that play was way down since the early years.

In the early days, I remember hearing that it was very difficult to get a tee time at Longaberger.  They were booked solid and were able to charge $125+.  Those days are gone.

I always enjoy playing Longaberger, if for no other reason than the fact that the course is on an impressive piece of property (totally different than anything else in central Ohio).

Back in the day, my uncle was convinced (or maybe he's a great actor) that Beanie Babies were a solid investment.  He bought a crazy number of those stupid things and encased them in plastic to keep them in mint condition.  Then the Beanie Baby market crashed...

They used to fill out the tee sheet for the whole season on opening day.

I thought it was way overrated.  I wish we could get CC or Mr Doak to do a course by Athens,OH.  Beautiful land and Athens is the Paradise City, won't you please take me home!

Longaberger isn't my favorite course in central Ohio, but it is located on a great piece of land. I think it's a fun course with some good holes (#8 in particular). But with the terrain, elevation and vistas, it would have been so much better had a Doak or C&C or DeVries been given free reign to build a course out there.

I do hope that it remains open because there's nothing else like it in this area...until someone gets one of those architects to come in and do a project in Ohio.

I noticed an unfamiliar twitter handle on my feed this morning.  It turns out that Longaberger will henceforth be known as The Virtues.  http://www.longabergergolfclub.com/golf/blog/posts/541/2016-transition-to-a-new-era---the-virtues-golf-club.html

Quite an ugly logo, and I say that as a Steelers fan.  It looks like something out of the 1990s clipart period.

As Brian stated, beautiful land.   Really disappointed with the course, however, and consider it a big missed opportunity.

The logo helps take the focus off that terrible name.

Wow, I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that's the worst logo I've ever seen.

I've seen those diamonds on a lot of golf sweaters. Most things named with arrogance presumption succeed.

Maybe the members-only logo is just the colorful diamonds?

I think part of what makes this logo so poor is what it will look like on merchandise. By filling in the logos with colors, they're boxed in on what it will look like on merchandise. In other words, no color coordinated or tonal or one-color embroidery.

Brian,

I have never played Longaberger and only know a few people that have. None ever told me it was worth the drive from Cleveland to see it.
