Two-time U.S. Mid Am champ Spider Miller has been named 2015 Walker Cup Captain:

I'm sure Mr. Miller is an excellent choice but isn't it odd to pick the next captain before this year's matches are played?

I agree, Jeff. It does seem a bit early in the game but that's the USGA for you!

Its' done to help expose and acclimate the future WC Captains to the logistics, protocol, and experiences of the upcoming event.

Saw Spider play a practice round at Augusta in the late 90s after his mid Am win. Seems like a great guy
