Fellow GCAer Kris Shreiner has asked me to post this invitation to a gathering on Friday of the US Open, very near the course on the grounds of the St. George's Episcopal Church on Ardmore Avenue smack in between the East and West courses.

"The folks at Shreiner Tree Care extend an invitation to all GCA kin to join them for a nice day at Merion, June 14th. Please IM Kris if you will be at the event on another tournament round day and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Donations are graciously being accepted and will be directed toward to a J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship award in the name of the late, great dear friend of Philly golf and the world, USGA turf legend Stanley Zontek."

Yours in the city of Brotherly Love,

Kris

Joe.    Will be attending with a guest. His assignment is driving players between courses, maybe he can get a player or two to stop in and visit??
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

Ed, I'll let Kris chime in here.  But me, I'm good by it as well as any of their, uhh, friends.  Like those with a zest for living.  But I draw the line at Perkin's.  No Waffle Housers.

Professor-It seems that these "zest for living" people are often found at weddings and other large scale events. I wonder what the correlation is?

You want this guy, the only Merion member I ever saw break dancing.

Ed,

We're good for well-behaved guests...even breakdancer, Merion members ;D! In fact, we'll get them some VIP time on the ballroom floor.
Just kindly RSVP as requested with Kim or IM me when you know your plans. Pros are certainly welcome to come by and Tony would be happy to get their take on Friday night about what to expect for the weekend. We have some GCA royalty also slated to weigh in on the proceedings, so it should be quite a day and evening!

Cheers,

I'll be writing all week at Merion, so I'll be glad to see everyone.  We also should spend some time on Mayday Malone's hole at the Open...6 or 7 , I forget which, but we should have a GCA meet up.

Kris - Thanks for this and a great cause. (Tony beat me in a GAP match earlier this year -- he's deadly around the green at his home track!)

I wish it were only large scale events. Recently I hosted a small gathering to celebrate the christening of my new sailboat (The Flying Wasp) and zounds you would not believe the way some people carried on.

Kris,
I will definitely make it a point to try and stop by.  Thanks!!
Joe, it would be great to get together with you again.
Mark, sorry we didn't get a chance to tee it up a few weeks ago, but hopefully we'll meet up at this event.
Perhaps we could dash over to my club for a quick round or at least a few Pine Valley's on the terrace.
I'm volunteering at the practice range on the West course Friday morning (5.30am (!!)-10.30am) and have to return from 3.45pm-9pm.

It looks like I might be down for Friday. I'll try to stop by, I'll have a buddy who is not a GCA guy with me. Would there be any problems bringing him along?

Bump for Kris.

Whom here will be attending either practice or tournament rounds, or working the event, and where?

Won't be making it and I fondly remember the lunch they had there during the Walker Cup. They put on a great spread.
